Papel Picado Booty Angel

I hope everyone is hanging in there during this quarantine. I have been keeping myself busy with various projects but I wanted to make a little something to share out to you all. Hopefully it will bring you some moments of joy and calm. I designed this Papel Picado Booty Angel that you can cut out and use to guard over your space. Mine is on an 8.5x11 sheet of printer paper, but you can use any rectangular sheet of paper. It will look even better if you have some colored paper you can use.

If you have access to a printer, feel free to save and print out my template HERE

If you are feeling adventurous, you can free hand draw it on your own piece of paper

MATERIALS

For this short project, you will need:

  • Scissors

  • A printed copy of my Booty Angel Template

  • A pencil and eraser - only if you plan on drawing out the design yourself

STEP 1

You are first going to fold your sheet in half, so that you can see the template lines facing you. You are then going to cut out the shapes outlined in red.

Note: the legs and foot are the trickiest part to cut, be sure to go slow and take your time.

STEP 2

Once you have cut out the sections in red, you are going to fold the sheet again along the green dashed line.

It should look like the image below, where the green shapes are facing you. Now cut out the heart and diamond shapes outlined in green.

STEP 3

When you have finished cutting the green shapes, open back to your half sheet. It should look like the image below.

You are now going to cut the yellow lines at the bottom and at the edge of the sheet. This will give a bit of shape to your piece and will add a nice fringe at the bottom.

STEP 4

Unfold your sheet and you should now have your very own Booty Angel to watch over you.

And that is it! I hope you enjoy your new Papel Picado Booty Angel. Once you have made one, feel free to change it up and put your own spin on it. I would love to see what folks do with it.

I hope you enjoy and stay safe out there y'all.

Regards,
